Pelling also serves as the base for several treks in the region. Rabdentse Ruins are part of the Buddhist religious circuit which can be reached by trekking down two km from the Pemayangtse Monastery on the way to Pelling. It is a lovely trek through a forest of chestnut trees, past an enchanting lake that brings one to the debris of what once was the fortification wall that encompassed this mediaeval capital. The ruins of the royal enclosure which lie towards the north have an open quadrangle that houses the Dab Lhagang. Several carved images were found here which are now housed in the nearby sculpture shed.
